Almarai Co.’s consolidated net profit after zakat and tax declined 8.7 percent year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 918.6 million in the first half of 2019 due to sluggish growth in the fresh dairy and juice market this year.

 

The first half of 2019 net profit was also impacted by a drop in gross profit, higher selling, general and administrative expenses (G&As), and higher financing charges.

Second-quarter earnings fell 11.9 percent YoY to SAR 582.5 million on higher SG&A, other expenses.

 

Meanwhile, the dairy producer’s Q2 net profit surged 73 percent quarter-on-quarter, driven by seasonal factors— such as Ramadan— which fell in second quarter this year.
