Fawaz Abdulaziz Alhokair Co. turned to a net loss after Zakat and tax of SAR 633.8 million in the six-month period ended Sept. 30, 2020, compared to a profit of SAR 198.2 million in the same period a year earlier.

This profit decline was driven by a 41% drop in revenue, as a result of the temporary closure of the company’s retail units due to COVID-19, and a hike of 14.6% in depreciation and amortization expenses.

 

The company also cited lower gross profit and a 28.4% increase in selling, general and administrative expenses for the losses.

On a quarterly basis, Alhokair’s net losses narrowed on higher revenue.
