Saudi Arabia’s inflation decelerated to 1.9% in December 2024 compared with the previous month, according to data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
The cost-of-living index rose to 112.28 points in December, according to the base year 2018, from 110.15 points in the same month a year earlier.
Inflation is measured by the percentage change in the cost of living between the current and the year-ago periods. The increase or decline in inflation is measured compared to the previous month.

The GASTAT attributed December inflation rates to an 8.9% increase in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel prices. In addition, prices of food & beverages rose by 0.8%, while miscellaneous personal goods and services reported an increase of 2.2%.
In contrast, transport prices fell 2.5%, hit by a 3.9% decrease in vehicle purchase prices.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) tracks price changes for a fixed basket of 490 goods and services, selected from the 2018 income and expenditure survey. Prices are compiled through field visits to points of sale.
Monthly inflation rose in Riyadh, Makkah, Taif, Jazan, Najran, and Tabuk. However, it declined in Dammam, Madinah, Sakaka, Arar and Buraidah.
Jeddah, Hofuf, Abha, Hail, and Al-Baha recorded a deflation.
