US stocks end higher amid Treasury yields decline

US stock indicesclosed out the week on a positive note amid a decline in the Treasury yields, evaluation of inflation and monetary policy prospects, as well as start of disclosing interim financial results. 

International Market

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.6%, or 247 points, toclose at 40,000 points, with a weekly gain of 1.6%.

 

The S&P 500 index rose nearly 0.55%, or 30 points, to end at 5,615 points, adding 0.85% this week. The Nasdaq Composite Index finished at 18,398 points, rising 0.65%, or 115 points, with a weekly gain of 0.25%.

 

Elsewhere, the STOXX Europe 600 Index edged up 0.9% or 524 points.

 

Germany’s DAX 40 Index leapt1.15%to 18,748 points. FTSE 100 closed 0.35% up at 8,252 points. The CAC 40 Index settled 1.25% higher at 7,724 points.

 

Meanwhile, the Nikkei 225 fell2.45% to 41,190 points. TOPIX also eased1.2% to 2,894 points. However, both indices recorded weekly gains of 0.7% and 0.35%, respectively.
