The number of oil drilling rigs in the United States decreased during the week ended Sept. 27, while natural gas rigs saw an increase.
The oil drilling rig count fell by four, bringing the total to 484 rigs—marking the first drop in six weeks, according to data released by Baker Hughes on Sept. 28.
In contrast, the number of natural gas drilling rigs rose by three to a total of 99 rigs, the highest level since the week ended July 26, when there were 101 rigs.
