Saudi central bank assets up SAR 45.5 bln in May 2019

Assets held by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), the Kingdom’s central bank, increased by SAR 45.5 billion month-on-month to about SAR 1.965 trillion in May 2019, the highest level since March 2017, new data released by the central bank showed.

 

When compared to the same month last year, assets rose SAR 34.2 billion.

SAMA’s investments in foreign securities, which account for 61 percent of its total assets, declined 1.4 percent year-on-year (YoY) to around SAR 1.192 trillion in May.
