Houthi rebels attack Saudi’s Abha airport, injuring 9 civilians

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels attacked Saudi Arabia's Abha airport today morning, injuring nine civilian passengers, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing the Arab Coalition spokesperson.

 

“Nine civilians were injured in the attack, including eight Saudi nationals and one Indian. However, all are in stable condition and have been transferred to specialized hospitals,” Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Almalki said.

 

Houthi-backed Al Masirah TV made the announcement and claimed the rebels had targeted the airport with a drone.

“Targeting civilians and civilian assets systematically who are protected under international humanitarian law, could lead to a war crime,” Col Almalki added.

 

He stressed that in case of such acts of terrorism by the Houthi terrorist militia, strict measures will be carried out to deter them in order to protect the civilians. 

 

The Houthis have previously targeted the Abha airport on June 24, killing one and injuring seven civilians.
