POS weekly transactions hit SAR 11.3 bln: SAMA
POS device
Point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 11.33 billion in the week ended Sept. 9, compared to SAR 13.84 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
About 180.2 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent consumer spending using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

Most sectors witnessed a drop in POS transactions during the week.
The education sector led the decliners as it fell 56%, followed by the telecommunications sector at 30% and the recreation & culture sector at 24%.
Consumer spending focused on the food & beverages sector in the week, with nearly SAR 1.78 billion, followed by restaurants & cafes with SAR 1.66 billion.
