TASI rises 1.3% as blue chips stage strong recovery
Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rebounded from an early trading rout, closing 1.3 percent higher, or nearly 100 points, at 7,667 points on Tuesday.
The market slipped 4 percent in the first hour of trading, in line with the declines across Asian stock markets and Wall Street’s overnight losses.
Total turnover reached an 18-month high of SAR 7.5 billion. Advance to decline ratio stood at 47-136.
Market Index
Petchems major SABIC jumped 4.9 percent to SAR 124, while Advanced rose 1.7 percent to SAR 47.80. Petrochem and Sahara Petrochemical were up 1 percent each.
Heavyweight lenders Al Rajhi and National Commercial Bank gained 1.9 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively.
SIECO was the top gainer, rising 9.9 percent to SAR 76.20. The company will use its rights issue proceeds to finance new deals, its CEO Hazem Al Dosari told CNBC Arabia.
Saudi Ceramics, BCI, Arab National Bank and Saudi Telecom rose 5 to 7 percent.

Meanwhile, Saudi Investment Bank declined 0.6 percent to SAR 17.70. The bank’s CEO Musaed Al-Mineefi said the JPMorgan International Finance’s plan to sell its stake in the bank would be “positive” for existing shareholders.
Dar Al Arkan sank 3.3 percent to SAR 9.05, while Maaden slipped 1.6 percent to end at SAR 44.85.
Al Alamiya was the top declining, falling 5.1 percent to SAR 29.10.
