The Music Commission is set to focus this year on developing the infrastructure of the music industry in Saudi Arabia, CEO Paul Pacifico told Argaam.

This year, focus will be geared towards the regulatory aspect, licenses, framework and associations that support various types of music, the CEO added.

Furthermore, the commission will work to build the sector in a way that provides more opportunities for musicians and investors. This shall in turn contribute to achieving the economic feasibility of the sector and positioning music production as a reliable career, said Pacifico.

The commission’s largest investment will be in the education sector. Last year, it trained 36,000 teachers at the kindergarten level, ahead of teaching music at the academic level for the first time this year. The commission is keen to develop future generations and enable the current generation to achieve its potential, according to the top executive.

He also stated that there are a number of initiatives to support Saudi musicians, as the Music Commission is keen to understand and fulfill their needs. This is besides working to create ways to support them, with the aim of making music available to everyone and giving Saudi Arabia an opportunity to show its best to the world.
