Saudi Aramco inaugurated the Baker Hughes General Electric (BHGE) research facility in Dhahran Techno Valley, the state-owned oil giant said on its website.
The facility will host groundbreaking technologies, including the first industry 3D printer for metals in Saudi Arabia, and a Visualization Lab equipped with a digital learning, visualization and automation platform to help simulate and optimize well works.
The technology and strategic impact of the new center is expected to significantly upgrade Saudi Aramco’s capabilities in project management, design, manufacture, and commission hardware and software (control & condition monitoring industry) with the ambition of deploying it globally, the statement said.
Dhahran Techno Valley Ecosystem, which was created to promote a knowledge-based economy in Dhahran and in the Eastern Province, includes King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SEC, and other technology partners and small to medium size enterprises.
