Donations and funds can be sent from outside Saudi Arabia through blockchain technology to assist non-Saudi detainees under the “Furijat” initiative, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Yahia Al-Ghamdi, Information Technology Director at the Ministry of Interior.
Funds will be directed under the new technology to execution courts and will be used after coordination with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), banks and the Ministry of Justice.
“A total of SAR 50 million was contributed under the Furijat initiative, which was launched last June, to settle invoices of over 800 detainees,” Al-Ghamdi added.
In addition, a new investment fund is being set up to help the released detainees clear their debts in installments to the fund, the official added.
