Riyadh Metro project will be launched soon, as the project was almost 90% complete, Prince Faisal bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh Region, told Socrates Podcast.

 

Moreover, the bus transport project will start operations in the current or next quarter of the year.

 

The Riyadh metro is a mega project. It also ranks among the world’s quality projects. Usually, mega projects are implemented gradually, or in small or new cities, but the metro project was developed in a large city without any impact on it.

 

Commenting on the strategy of Riyadh, bin Ayyaf said the plan is similar to Saudi Vision 2030, but it will be implemented on the city level. The strategy depends on the solid foundations of the city, as the current area of Riyadh can accommodate a large number of residents.

 

The horizontal growth in Riyadh is not the optimal solution, as central Riyadhis one of the best growth opportunities, in addition to other development programs.
