Saudi Space Commission Chairman Abdullah Al-Swaha
Saudi Space Commission (SSC) will give the priority to the foundation stage to ensure strong scientific base, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing SSC chairman Abdullah Al-Swaha.
He added that the commission will prepare its strategy in coordination with the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA).
The strategy will be based on the objectives and targets of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in the field of space, to benefit from the promising opportunities available in the industry and build a knowledge economy based on the latest technologies and innovations.
"The foundation stage and the period of preparing the strategy will not be long," Al-Swaha said, stressing that the commission is keen on implementing the directives that the Kingdom should rank among the most advanced countries in the space economy, whose size is estimated at more than $1 trillion by 2040.
Elsewhere, Al-Swaha pointed out that the Kingdom will work to fully benefit from this sector, in line with the Vision 2030, to ensure strong support to a diversified and sustainable national economy.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman issued a royal decree on appointing Al-Swaha as SCC chairman, Argaam reported.
