A total of 529 new factories were licensed in Saudi Arabia in the first six months of 2021, with investments exceeding SAR 20 billion, according to official data issued from the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
The number of factories that started actual production reached 302 in H1 2021, creating over 30,000 jobs within the sector, out of which share of Saudis stood at 42%.
The period also witnessed the issuance of 74 minerals detection licenses, 122 building material quarry licenses, eight mining licenses and 11 exploration licenses.
The ministry also added that H1 2021 saw the adoption of the new Mining Investment Law executive regulations, and various launches like the “Made in Saudi” program, the new digital platform, the wage support program to localize industrial sector jobs, and the building quarry licenses.
