Saudi Arabia detected its first case of COVID-19 variant Omicron in a traveler coming from North Africa, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing an official source of the Ministry of Health.

An epidemiological investigation was conducted, and the infected person and his contacts were isolated. In addition, the approved health procedures were completed, the source noted.

This reflects the continued efforts of the Ministry of Health and the Public Health Authority (Weqaya) to investigate and deal with the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 and its mutated strains, as well as taking the procedures of examining the genetic sequence of the virus.

Accordingly, all society members should complete vaccination and adhere to the precautionary and preventive measures as well as the approved protocols, the source said, calling upon travelers to adhere to the instructions of quarantine and laboratory examination to ensure their safety.
