Saudi Arabia estimates 2022 budget revenue at SAR 1.045 trln, expenditure at SAR 955 bln with SAR 90 bln surplus

Saudi Arabia estimated public revenue in 2022 budget at SAR 1.045 trillion, and expenditures at SAR 955 billion, with an expected surplus of SAR 90 billion, the Ministry of Finance said in its 2022 pre-budget statement today, Dec. 12. 

    

Total expenditure was projected at SAR 1.015 trillion in 2021, while revenue was budgeted at SAR 930 billion, with an expected deficit of SAR 85 billion.

Oil revenue was projected at SAR 588 billion, while non-oil revenue was seen reaching SAR 372 billion in 2021.

Gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.9% to SAR 3.207 trillion in 2021. The Kingdom’s inflation declined to 3.3%, compared to 3.4% in 2020.

The Kingdom’s public debt rose to SAR 938 billion by the end of 2021, representing 29.2% of total GDP, compared to SAR 854 billion a year earlier.  

 

The Saudi government allocated SAR 185 billion for the education sector in 2022, and SAR 138 billion for the healthcare and social development sector.
