Qassim Cement board appoints consultant to define solar project’s work scope

Qassim Cement Co.’s board of directors, approved on Dec. 26, appointing a specialized consulting firm to define the scope of work and qualify competitors for the solar energy project, the company said in a statement to Tadawul.

 

The new project will have a capacity of more than 30 megawatt (MW)), and will be implemented in Buraydah, Qassim, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

 

The new solar plant will integrate the generated solar power with the company’s current energy generation resources. The cement producer will not incur any capital or operational expenditure, as the payment will be based on actual consumption.

 

Qassim Cement aims to reduce its energy consumption and carbon emissions.

 

It is currently difficult to estimate the financial impact, the company added, noting that any significant developments will be announced in due course.
