US natural gas inventories fell by 3 billion cubic feet (bcf) in the week ended Nov. 15, contrary to expectation of 7-bcf rise.
This is considered the first weekly decline after 13 successive weeks of gains.
Total natural gas stocks reached 3.96 trillion cubic feet (tcf), up 3.7%, or approximately 141 bcf, compared to the same period last year, according to data released today, Nov. 21, by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Additionally, inventories are 6.4%, or around 239 bcf, above the five-year average (2019-2023) of 3.74 tcf.
