Saudi City Cement Company plans to start trial operation of its 5,500-ton-a day clicker production line on Oct 1, the company said in a statement.
The total cost of the project is SAR 970.6 million and will be financed from the company’s internal resources. Commercial operation of the project will start when the fuel is available, it added.
The company signed in June 2012 an agreement to build a second production line with an annual capacity of 1.9 million tons clicker but it did not get confirmation from Saudi Arabian Oil Co. to supply fuel for the company. The ministry of petroleum and mineral resources has not approved the company’s expansion plans.
