SABIC resumes operations at Teesside, UK cracker: ICIS

06/03/2015 Argaam
Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Saudi Arabia's largest petrochemicals exporter, has resumed operations at its cracker in Wilton, Teesside in the United Kingdom following an unexpected power outage, a company spokesperson said on Thursday.

The outage hit the area on Wednesday, affecting the entire Wilton site, according to ICIS news.

The power dip led to the cracker flaring, which is an essential safety mechanism that could go on for up to 24 hours when normal production is facing problems.

SABIC UK said it was working hard to resume normal operations as soon as possible, according to ICIS.

The current status of the cracker and other operations at the site is not yet clear.

According to data compiled by Argaam, the cracker has the capacity to produce 865,000 TPA of ethylene Olefins 6.
