Saudi Arabia wastes 125 mln liters of milk per year: report

31/08/2015 Argaam

Around 125 million liters of fresh milk worth SAR 500 million are wasted every year in Saudi Arabia, due to regulation which requires suppliers to return or destroy milk products after a five-day expiration period, Alriyadh newspaper reported, citing the National Committee for Fresh Dairy Producers at the Council of Saudi Chambers.

The commission also confirmed that the kingdom’s fresh dairy industry is facing a number of other challenges, which require some action from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority.
