Al Rajhi Bank denied on Sunday media reports that one of its cash-in-transit armored vans was attacked by a group of gunmen in Al-Raed district, Riyadh, while returning to the bank branch.
Al Rajhi’s Al-Raed branch remains secure, and the money transfer vehicle that was attacked is not owned by the bank, the Saudi lender said on its official Twitter account.
According to local media reports, a cash-in-transit vehicle was attacked by armed robbers in the Al-Raed district, when making a routine stop in front of the bank branch. The attack left two of the security van’s crew injured.
Security forces in Riyadh have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the crime, a police spokesperson told Al-Ekhbariya news channel. The amount of money seized during the attack was not disclosed.
