Saudi Arabia, Siemens ink MoU to boost digital industrial transformation

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens AG to push the Kingdom’s digital industrial transformation, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.

 

The Kingdom will cooperate with Siemens on the Industry 4.0, the German strategic initiative for automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, automation, digitization, and cyber security, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.

 

The German-based conglomerate will use the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) as the optimum operating system for Saudi Arabia's main infrastructure and industries.

 

The MoU will cover digitization of smart cities, healthcare services, mining and petrochemical industries, digital shipyard building and mechatronics engineering.

 

"The Ministry is aiming to empower the society and economy to avail the investment opportunities provided by digital transformation to put the Kingdom on top of innovative countries and fast track accomplishment of the Saudi Vision 2030," Minister Abdullah Al-Sawaha said.
