Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture and Information Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad has appointed Dawood Al-Sherian as chairman of Ikhbariya Network Company.
The firm’s board of directors includes Abdulaziz Hamad Al-Fahd, Khalid Ahmed Mudkhali, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Obaid Abdullah Al-Rasheed, Jasser Abdullah Al-Jasser, and Saad Mohammed Al-Jurais.
The minister issued a decree on Thursday turning Al Ikhbariya Satellite TV channel into a limited liability firm, rebranding it to Ikhbariya Network Co. The company will be equally owned by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and the Radio and Television Corporation.
The firm aims to develop exclusive, objective and transparent content, generate a return on investment in the media sector, and create competitive digital platforms.
The decree also involves upgrading the Arabic news channel and launching a new English channel.
