Saudi POS transactions hit 22-year high in December

Point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia rose 28 percent to SAR 20.22 billion in December—the highest figure in 22 years — from SAR 15.78 billion a year earlier, figures from the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) showed.

 

Data showed that 72.18 million transactions were processed through nearly 300,000 points-of-sales in shopping malls, retail stores, and pharmacies.

Cash withdrawals increased 2 percent year-on-year (YoY) to nearly SAR 64 billion across 18,300 ATMs in December.
