Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has licensed eight new aquaponic farming projects across the Kingdom, as it aims to increase the production of vegetables to more than 48,000 tons, Al-Eqtidadiah newspaper reported.
Two of these projects are in Al-Kharj city, with the first producing more than 14,000 tons of various types of vegetables, while the other produces 5,400 tons, said Mohammed Al-Haidari, director of the ministry’s agriculture services.
The other projects are located in Qassim, Makkah, Hail, Al-Zulfi, and other areas.
