Saudi Arabia seeks death penalty for five in Khashoggi case

15/11/2018 Argaam

The Saudi Public Prosecutor has charged 11 people in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and sought the death penalty for five of them, the official Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

The Public Prosecutor added that investigations are ongoing with the other detained suspects.

The Saudi public prosecutor last month said the killing was premeditated, and that prosecutors were interrogating suspects on the basis of information provided by a joint Saudi-Turkish task force.

Khashoggi was killed in Istanbul consulate on Oct. 2 and his body was dismembered and taken out of the building, he told reporters in Riyadh.
