Saudi Arabia is planning to offer more spectrum to enable the 5G and mobile internet services, Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday, citing Abdulaziz Al-Ruwais, governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC).
The mobile internet download speed was increased by over three times in one year, the report said.
The Kingdom has recently deployed the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (MMTS) to ensure optimum usage and enhance fair competition, Al-Ruwais added.
The telecom regulator had earlier said it aims to raise mobile internet download speed by 150 percent to 28 Mb/s across the Kingdom, ahead of reaching 45 Mb/s by 2020, Argaam reported.
