Almarai net profit rises 11% in 9M 2016

Almarai, one of the Gulf’s largest dairy and juice producers, reported a net profit of SAR 1.59 billion for the first nine months of 2016, an 11.2 percent increase year-on-year due to a growth in bakery, dairy, juice and poultry sales, along with cost of sales increasing at a lower rate.

 

Operating expenses during the period increased, along with higher general and administrative expenses. Financial results of associates and joint ventures, foreign exchange, finance costs, zakat, and foreign income tax, also had an unfavorable impact on the period, Almarai said.

The company reported a net profit of SAR 654.6 million in Q3-2016, a 10 percent increase YoY and a 4 percent increase from the previous quarter.

 

Almarai said the operating income comparison between third and second quarter was affected due to the month of Ramadan, which fell in Q2 this year.
