SPIMACO posts SAR 178 mln loss in 9M 2019

Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries and Medical Appliances Corp. (SPIMACO) reported a net loss after zakat and tax of SAR 177.7 million for the first nine months of 2019, against a net profit of SAR 49.8 million a year earlier.

The losses were attributed to a decline in gross profit and product prices. SPIMACO also adjusted the provision for sales recovery according to IFRS 15 requirements.

 

SPIMACO posted a net profit after zakat and tax of SAR 30 million, against a net loss of SAR 3.4 million in year-earlier period, driven by higher sales and gross profit, along with improved efficiency of operating expenses.

 

The company turned profitable in Q3 2019, after incurring net losses of SAR 188.5 million in Q2 2019, thanks to seasonal factors, higher gross profit and improved sales mix.
