SABIC’s net profit falls 74% in FY19

Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) reported a 74.16% decline year-on-year (YoY) in net profit after zakat and tax to SAR 5.6 billion for fiscal year 2019.

 

The drop was driven by lower average selling prices in addition to the recording of SAR 2.8 billion impairment provision in Arabian Industrial Fibers Co. (Ibn Rushd). SABIC’s share amounted to SAR 1.3 billion, in addition to a SAR 1.5 billion impairment provision in ClariantAG investment.

The company reported a net loss after zakat and tax of SAR 720 million in Q4 2019, due to a decline in average selling prices and the recording of impairment provision in Ibn Rushd.

 

On a sequential basis, SABIC reported a net profit of SAR 830 million in the third quarter of 2019.
