Financial Results : Al Othaim’s 9M net profit more than doubles

Abdullah Al Othaim Markets Co.’s net profit for the first nine months of 2017 more than doubled to SAR 281.9 million compared to the same period last year, attributed to non-recurring gains from the sale of a shopping mall in Hail city during Q3.

 

The increase in net profit was also backed by higher sales from existing and new branches, improved gross margin, and an increase in real estate revenue due to adding new leasable spaces. The results of the corresponding period included losses from a fire that occurred at one of the manufacturing facilities of an associate.

The company’s net profit for Q3 more than quadrupled YoY to SAR 150.6 million also due to non-recurring gains resulting from the sale of the shopping mall in Hail city and overall higher sales.

 

When compared to the previous quarter, net profit doubled on the back of higher gross margin and non-recurring gains despite a drop in sales.
