SAPTCO swings to SAR 34 mln net loss in H1

Saudi Public Transport Co. (SAPTCO) incurred a net loss of SAR 34 million in H1 2018, compared to a net profit of SAR 43 million a year earlier, due to an expected decline in the value of assets held for sale and an estimated loss of SAR 22.2 million charged to expenses during the current quarter.

 

In addition, the lower value of property, plant and equipment of SAR 5.4 million, the drop in income funding and other income as well as higher zakat and income tax expenses also weighed on H1 figures.

The company also swung to a net loss of SAR 29.8 million in the second quarter, compared to a net profit of SAR 39.5 million in Q2 2017, on the back of a decline in other expenses, and lower profit from JVs.

 

The company’s net losses widened by over six-fold, when compared to Q1 2018.
