POS device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 14.57 billion in the week ended March 4, compared to SAR 10.40 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Last week’s transaction value is the highest in 10 months, especially the week from April 24-30, 2022, when it reached SAR 15.97 billion.
Data showed that about 182.04 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent what consumers spend using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

All sectors reported solid performance, led by education (216%) and telecommunications (61%). Food and beverages (F&B) as well as clothes and footwear followed at 56% each.
During the week, consumer spending focused on F&B with nearly SAR 2.40 billion, and restaurants and cafes at SAR 1.99 billion, as shown below:

Riyadh topped the POS transactions in terms of value with almost SAR 4.6 billion, or 32% of total sales. Jeddah came second with SAR 2.05 billion, as indicated below:
