POS devise
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions reached nearly SAR 12.58 billion in the week ended April 8, compared to almost SAR 12.70 billion in the week before, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that about 153.83 million transactions were processed during the week.
POS transactions represent what consumers spend using ATMs and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

Education led retreating sectors in terms of the value of POS transactions, at 22%, followed by the food and beverage (F&B) (14%), then electronics and electric appliances sector (11%).
Meanwhile, jewelry led the rising sectors, increasing by 34% week-on-week (WoW), followed by clothes and footwear (15%).
During the week, consumer spending focused on F&B at nearly SAR 1.83 billion, followed by clothes and footwear at SAR 1.64 billion.

Among the Kingdom’s cities, Riyadh topped the POS transactions in terms of value with almost SAR 3.96 billion, or 31% of total sales. Jeddah came second with SAR 1.87 billion, as indicated below:
